Heavy Blow in the Heart of Tehran.. Israel Announces Killing of Larijani and Basij Commander
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced on Tuesday the killing of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Larijani and Basij Forces Commander Gholam Reza Soleimani in airstrikes targeting the Iranian capital, Tehran.

Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee confirmed that the air force carried out a precision strike in central Tehran based on accurate military intelligence, resulting in the killing of Basij commander Gholam Reza Soleimani. He noted that the operation was part of a series of focused strikes targeting Iran’s military and security leadership.

According to Israeli officials, Ali Larijani was one of the primary targets of the recent strikes that hit multiple locations across Iran. He is considered one of the country’s most prominent political and security figures and the highest-ranking official announced killed since Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed on the first day of the war.

Larijani, a former nuclear negotiator, was known for his close ties to Iran’s leadership. He was seen days earlier participating in Quds Day events in Tehran before being targeted in the latest strikes.

In a related development, the United States had previously announced a reward of up to $10 million for information on Iranian military and intelligence officials, including Larijani, as part of a list linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Following the announcement of his death, a message attributed to Larijani was published on his account on the “X” platform, praising Iranian sailors killed in a U.S. attack, with expectations of an official funeral ceremony.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army stated that dozens of warplanes carried out a wide wave of airstrikes targeting military and security infrastructure in Tehran, Shiraz, and Tabriz. The strikes included intelligence headquarters, Basij facilities, and sites for storing and launching ballistic missiles, drones, and air defense systems.

These developments come amid unprecedented escalation between Iran on one side and the United States and Israel on the other, raising concerns over a wider regional conflict.
