**Political Welcome for Saudi Call to Comprehensive Southern Dialogue in Riyadh Al-Bakri Urges Responsible Partnership, Al-Jabwani Sets Strict Conditions for Conference Success**
Yemeni political figures have welcomed Saudi Arabia’s call to convene a comprehensive Southern Dialogue Conference in the capital Riyadh, describing it as a key step toward addressing the Southern issue. Minister of Youth and Sports and Head of the Aden Resistance Council, Nayif al-Bakri, alongside former minister Saleh al-Jabwani, emphasized the importance of clear frameworks to ensure the dialogue yields tangible outcomes.

Al-Bakri praised the Saudi initiative, considering it a generous response to the request of the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council and a reflection of the aspirations of Southern components. He addressed his fellow resistance partners, stressing that those who once united on the battlefield are now responsible for safeguarding gains through dialogue and national partnership, calling for active and responsible participation that prioritizes citizens’ interests above all else.

Former minister Saleh al-Jabwani also commended Saudi Arabia’s pivotal role in sponsoring the dialogue, but underscored strict conditions for participation. He insisted on adherence to the outcomes and references of the National Dialogue Conference, particularly the establishment of a six-region federal state. Al-Jabwani warned against exploiting the Southern issue for political bargaining, stressing that the Eastern Region — including Hadramout, Shabwa, Al-Mahra and Socotra — is a red line that cannot be compromised or marginalized.

Al-Jabwani linked the success of the Riyadh Conference to the seriousness of its preparation and the ability to implement its outcomes. He noted that transforming the Southern Transitional Council into a peaceful political entity by stripping it of weapons, along with freeing Shabwa and other areas from militia influence, are essential prerequisites for any genuine and comprehensive settlement.

Both officials concluded by praising Saudi Arabia’s continued support for Yemen’s legitimacy, particularly its recent efforts to secure Hadramout and Al-Mahra, affirming that these steps reinforce confidence in the Kingdom’s role as a key sponsor of peace, stability, and Yemen’s unity and sovereignty.
