Al-Mahlafi: The Coup Has Been Completed, Yemenis Face Two Coups
Abdulmalik Al-Mahlafi, Advisor to the President of Yemen and Deputy Head of the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission, stated that the coup in Yemen has effectively been completed, warning that Yemenis in both the north and the south are now facing two coups, further compounding their suffering and deepening the country’s crises.
Al-Mahlafi described the developments in Hadramout and Al-Mahra as unilateral actions taken by one of the partners within the legitimate government, calling them a direct blow to legitimacy and a serious betrayal of the political partnership.
He stressed that Yemen and Saudi Arabia are bound by shared geography, history, neighborhood ties, and long-standing mutual interests, noting that such actions ignore these realities and undermine the efforts of Saudi Arabia, which leads the Arab Coalition supporting Yemen’s internationally recognized government.
Al-Mahlafi warned that these developments represent a dangerous setback to the political process, urging all national forces to take a serious and responsible stand to save what remains of the Yemeni state and its institutions.
"What is happening in Yemen? What caused the war? And who ignited it?
