U.S. Sanctions Yemeni Fuel Import Company for Financing Houthis via Black Market
The United States has imposed sanctions on "Yemen Elaf," a Yemeni fuel import company owned by Abdullah Ahsan Abdullah Dabsh, accusing it of selling fuel on the black market in Houthi-controlled areas and using the proceeds to finance Houthi militant activities.
According to a statement by the U.S. Embassy in Yemen posted on X (formerly Twitter), the company holds exclusive import rights through the ports of Hudaydah and Al-Salif. The U.S. emphasized that the sanctions are part of an ongoing campaign to cut off financial resources to the Houthi group.
The embassy also released an identification card for the company as part of its "Expose Houthi Crimes" campaign.
